📝Business Tip: An Inside Look into the World of Small Business Loans
Whether you try to avoid borrowing at all costs or you’ve already submitted 10 loan applications and hoped for the best 🤞 — this one is for you.
This week, we’re excited to share some expert loan advice from Marcus Delgado, Business Development Officer at American Partners Federal Credit Union. In the most recent addition to our biz blog, he offers some insider advice from a lender’s perspective, breaking down what they actually consider when reviewing small business loan applications — and how you can increase your chances of getting approved.
A few key takeaways from his article:
Master the 5 C’s of Credit — especially Character (your credit history) and Capacity (your cash flow)
Be transparent — lenders value honesty over perfection
Aim for a DSCR of 1.25 — this shows you have more than enough income to cover your debt
Have your paperwork ready — showing up organized with tax returns, financial statements, and a solid business plan can fast-track your approval
Don’t know what a DSCR is? You should DEFINITELY keep reading.
